Directorate of Animal Health
Directorate of Animal Health is the focal point of National Veterinary Services and represents Nepal Government, Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operatives, Department of Livestock Services as a National Veterinary Authority. It is committed to provide preventive, curative and laboratory services to the needy people to prevent their animals from various diseases. It also carries out activities for protection of public health and quality control. Being a member nation of World Trade Organization (WTO), Nepal has to comply with Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) Agreement. In this context, Directorate of Animal Health is playing important role in formulation of legislations, enforcement and application of internationally acceptable standards for quality control of animal, animal products and animal production materials and control of animal diseases of public health and economic importance.
